Director, Advertising (Commerce)

Job Description

The Director, Advertising requires a deep understanding of digital advertising and strong leadership skills to lead a high-performing team within the commerce division. This position is also responsible for overseeing some of the commerce teams largest clients on the Amazon marketplace and other top marketplaces. A primary function of this role includes the on-going mentoring & training of Advertising Managers and engaging with other cross functional teams for overall enterprise level client success. This role also requires experience working with Senior Leadership to define go-to-market strategies and the ability to grow and foster strategic global partnerships at the enterprise level.

Responsibilities:

Thought Leadership

  • Develop growth driven Amazon and other retail performance advertising strategies
    • Create internal and client facing documents (e.g., playbooks, strategies, and best practices) that demonstrates how to drive sales and category ownership across multiple retail channels
  • Amazon Marketing Cloud
    • Develop and execute Amazon Marketing Cloud roadmap and growth strategy in partnership within other teams within Media.Monks

Oversee Top-Client Account Management

  • Create and implement advertising strategies, manage performance, and report on KPIs that meets and exceeds client goals
  • Strategic thinking, flawless execution, and insightful data analysis to grow sales across multiple retail channels

Sales & Business Development

  • Work with Sales and Business Development teams to develop and manage advertising collateral and audit workflows between teams
  • Co-present and collaborate with Sales Managers on pitches and other partner opportunities

Team Management

  • Mentor and train other Advertising Managers with updated strategies, reporting techniques, and other advertising best practices to position them for success
  • Proactively research industry trends & best practices and communicate to stakeholders
  • Continuously improve internal and external advertising workflows and processes
  • Engage with internal and external HR/recruiting stakeholders to ensure the Advertising team has a qualified candidate pool of applicants

Strategic Partnerships Support

  • Engage and grow strategic partnerships to position the commerce division for additional areas of growth opportunities

Required Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • 5+ years’ experience with Amazon digital advertising; with an emphasis on paid search and programmatic advertising
  • Excellent presentation skills and communicate under pressure
  • Excellent attention to detail and accomplished verbal and written communication skills
  • Adept at learning new software programs and tools
  • Experience with Amazon SaaS advertising management tools
  • Ability to work within sometimes ambiguous situations, think creatively and partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, reporting accuracy, ability to problem-solve as well as work independently is essential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Aptitude, creativity, and a preference for working cross-functionally within an organization with all levels of management, internally and externally
  • Self-starter with great time management and prioritization skills
  • May require up to 20% travel

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of training experience
  • 5+ years of leadership or managerial experience
